Finzean lies in the heart of Royal Deeside and on the eastern edges of the Grampian mountains. It can be approached from all directions and provides wonderful cycling and walking routes, as well as easy access to local events and places of historical and cultural interest.

    The Commonty Beat on the River Dee, managed by the Finzean and Ballogie Estates, is famous for salmon and sea trout fishing.

    There are many tracks for the recreational and more determined walker in Finzean, through woodland or up hills, such as Tom’s Cairn with stunning views of the Dee and Feugh valleys.

    There are numerous good cycle loops and trails in Finzean. The single-track road to the Forest of Birse Kirk offers unparalleled biking through pine woods and moorland and past two historic watermills.

    Finzean has a diverse ecology supporting over 135 different species of birds, and a thriving population of roe and red deer, pine martens, badgers and red squirrels.

    We are within easy reach of a number of impressive and historic castles. Crathes, Balmoral, Braemar and Dunnottar castles all make a great day trip.

    Aboyne, Banchory, Inchmarlo and Ballater are our closest courses, though there are many places to play within easy reach.
